Salinas Founders Day 2019
Monterey County Pops! to offer FREE performances at the Salinas Founders Day 2019 celebration on May 18, 2019, at the Salinas PAL Center on Lincoln Avenue, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Monterey County Pops! will perform at 9 a.m., 12:15 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.

The setting will be very informal–indoors with chairs for the audience but with people circulating.
The performances will include Americana favorites such as Bill Bailey, Maple Leaf Rag, Basin Street Blues, Tailgate Ramble, and marches by John Philip Sousa. Traditional Mexican favorites such as La Negra, Jarabe Tapatio, Marcha Zacatecas, and El Pajaro Cúwill also be featured.
Other local groups performing on the event’s Music Stage in the Salinas PAL Center between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. include the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts, Urban Motion Laurel Wood Dance Group, Hartnell Theatre and Cinema Team, Sherwood School Dance Group, and Dance Groups of The Filipino Community of Salinas Valley.
An Opening Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. It will include a procession accompanied by period music, remarks by the Mayor and elected officials, presentation of awards, and the singing of My Country ‘Tis of Theeand the Star Spangled Banner.
