Free Family Concert! Friday, February 15, 2019.
Monterey County Pops!, the area’s only provider of free-to-the-public professional concerts, is proud to present on February 15, 2019, 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union of Greenfield High School, its 20-member fully professional Wind Ensemble conducted and bilingually hosted by Music Director, Dr. Carl Christensen, in a program of light classics, marches, movie music, and traditional music from Mexico.

The professional musicians of the Monterey County Pops! will be in residence at Greenfield High School in the afternoon rehearsing with the students and conducting instrument demonstrations and workshops.
A special feature of the concert will be the performance of the traditional favorites from Oaxaca and Jalisco: Dios Nunca Muere, Canción Mixteca, Sones de Pinotepa Nacional, Jarabe Tapatio, and El Son de la Negra.
Featured guest performers on the program include the Greenfield High Advanced Band and Concert Choir conducted by Matt Huot, and the Beginning Band conducted by Adam Phillips. These guest performers will be accompanied by the professional musicians of the Monterey County Pops! Wind Ensemble.
The Concert Choir will perform Seasons of Love from Rent and A Tribute to Queen.
The Bands will perform Northpointe Fantasy and Canción Mixteca.
The Monterey County Pops! will also present Bohemian Rhapsody, Remember Me from the movie Coco, as well as marches from England, Mexico, Spain, and the United States.

The concert will conclude with the traditional Las Mañanitas performed by the over 100 student and professional musicians.
This and other free Pops performances are made possible by generous donations, sponsorships, and foundation grants. La Plaza Bakery will provide refreshments for the participants between the afternoon workshops and the evening concert.
